The Disguises...

Any experienced Jailbreaker (which we by any means are NOT!) will know that to get away effectively, a cunning disguise is needed. We had a few ideas, but have finally come up with a decision, and will be getting away from here as Batman and Robin. The costumes have yet to be sourced, but unfortunately we were outbid on eBay this morning on a very cheap pair of costumes. Bad times! However, in true Michael Schofield style I have another trick up my sleeve, and will either try again on the online marketplace or speak to a few contacts I have.

So, the main thing here is that IF you are reading, AND on the 9th June you see two guys dressed as Batman and Robin, then if you can donate, or even help them on their way from Nottingham then please do!

In other news, we may have an arranged rendezvous with an anonymous man from the North, to get us to the capital. If so, then this could be our first 100 miles in the bag!

The Funding....

Almost forgot, anyone reading would like to help us on our way you can donate in a number of ways, with all proceeds helping the National Alzheimer's Society, either directly or indirectly:

1. By posting a comment, showing interest to donate.
2. By donating through our justgiving site - to be announced
3. By donating directly to the National Alzheimer's Society
4. By donating directly to us if you see us on your travels (NB. if you do see us on your travels, you can also donate by getting us further from our destination)

An alternative sponsorship is to donate as pence per mile, as it will encourage us to get further!
Thanks

The Contraband...

So we've been discussing the kind of items needed to stage this escapade. Standard items are going to be the clothes on our backs and a rucksack with items the Uni will give us. Further, we will take passports - let's face it we're aiming big! And then some items depending on where we get. Let's face it I don't fancy to be wearing boardies and vest top, if we end up in Siberia (ha!), or a fleece if we get transported to the Sahara Desert.

Our aim seems to be the south of France, perhaps Morocco, or Greece. Unless for some reason, we get a great offer perhaps from an airline at East Midlands airport, or a continental trainline, then we may revise where we go.

More items may be needed, if we move to a contingency plan...

The Plan...

OK, so on 9 June 2009, the University of Nottingham will be hosting Jailbreak. The basic premise is thus:

"To get as far away from Nottingham in 36 hours, without spending any money".

Points are awarded for different transport used, different countries visited and capital cities visited. This is proven by photos, and you need to bring back souvenirs (blagging them, of course!). All proceeds will be going to charity - this being the National Alzheimer's Society.

So far there are a number of plans:

A - Aim for Morocco - likely to take us through 3 countries (including London, Paris, Madrid and maybe Rabat). However, some of the fastest 'Hitchhike to Morocco' takers just got to Morocco in 36 hours or more, so is quite tough.

B - Monte Carlo - sounds good, but only takes us into one country, through Paris.

C - Take whatever we get. This is probably the best plan and could get us the furthest.

Hopefully we're able to get a lift to the M1, and towards East Midlands airport, where we can ask around the flight desks for the chance of flights around. If not then it is going to mean looking for a hitch down to London, or further, via lorry.

As this is our Prison Break - Dom = Michael Schofield (do I get a tattoo?), Kini = Lincoln Burrows, Ben if you can transport us you can be Abruzzi haha

Ok, let's see how this pans out...
